Rinku Singh's remarkable rise in international cricket has been truly impressive. Just a few months after his T20I debut in Ireland, the left-handed middle-order batsman found himself standing tall on the winner's podium at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. He also earned a spot in India's squad for white-ball matches in South Africa.

His cricketing journey has been long and challenging. Rinku made his competitive debut in March 2014 in a List A game for Uttar Pradesh under the guidance of Piyush Chawla, a 2011 World Cup winner.

Leading up to India's tour opener against South Africa on December 10, Piyush Chawla reminisced about his first encounter with a 17-year-old Rinku during their time together in Uttar Pradesh for the 2014 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

On the eve of the India vs. South Africa tour opener, cricketer and commentator Piyush Chawla shared his memories of meeting a young Rinku Singh before the latter's List A debut. Chawla, who was leading Uttar Pradesh during the 2014 Vijay Hazare Trophy, was introduced to Rinku by the selectors. Impressed by Rinku's batting skills in the nets, Chawla assured him of making his List A debut in the tournament. The spinner even promised Rinku a four-match opportunity, regardless of his performance. True to his word, Rinku made a spectacular debut, scoring 83 runs against a formidable pace attack led by Umesh Yadav.

Nine years later, Rinku Singh is on the verge of a potential ODI debut for Team India in South Africa. The ODI series between the two nations will kick off on December 17 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, marking a significant milestone in Rinku's cricketing career
